Cold Weather Warning Issued

It's about to get very cold again.

After a couple of days of relatively comfortable winter weather that saw people head out to tobaggan hills and enjoy other outdoor activities, the temperature is expected to plummet Monday night.

Environment Canada has issued an extreme cold weather warning for London, Middlesex, Oxford, Elgin, Perth, Huron, and Brant counties. Forecasters say we'll see an overnight low of -22 C with wind chill readings around -30 C.

Tomorrow, forecasters expect the high temperature to reach just -11C. Again, they expect the wild chill reading to be in the -30 C range.

The Middlesex-London Health Unit and the  Elgin-St. Thomas Health Unit have issued their second cold weather alerts of 2015.

Overexposure to extreme cold weather can result in hypothermia and frostbite.

Symptoms include pale skin, shallow breathing , lethargy and confusion.

Parents are asked to ensure children are properly dressed when headed to school. The health unit is also asking people to check on their elderly or disabled neighbours to make sure everyone is coping well with the temperatures.
