Food Truck Debate To Be Revisited

Mayor Matt Brown is asking to revisit the debate over food trucks in the city.

Last term, council decided not to add a new category to the Business Licensing Bylaw for food trucks following five different reports from staff and two public participation meetings.

Brown is requesting city staff submit a report to the Community and Protective Services Committee on February 18.

The report will detail updated general provisions of business licensing administration and enforcement , fees for the new category, health and safety guidelines and regulations for distances from restaurants, homes and schools.

If approved by council, a pilot program would be launched with staff drafting another report detailing the number of licences issued by fall of 2015.
