Wage Increases For Child Care Workers

The province is boosting wages for early childhood educators and child care workers in licensed settings.

As of this month, eligible child care workers will get a raise of $1 per hour. Another wage increase is set for next year.

Government officials say the increase will close the gap between registered ECEs working in full-day kindergarten programs and child care professionals in licensed child care settings.

Premier Kathleen Wynne says it is also in an effort to recruit and retain highly trailed and qualified educators, ensuring parents have access to safe and reliable care for kids.
