Man Arrested After Crime Spree

A 25-year-old London man is in police custody following an early morning crime spree in the city's north end.

Police say a man stole a car from Philbrook Dr. and then headed to the PharmaPlus on Adelaide St. N.

There the thief demanded medication and the pharmacist handed over an undisclosed amount of drugs.

The pharmacist followed the thief out of the store, where he was struck and dragged a short distance by the stolen vehicle.

When fleeing, the 25-year-old hit a minivan head-on on Fanshawe Park Rd. He then ran from that scene and broke into a nearby garage, where he was arrested.

Neither the theif or the driver of the minivan were injured in the crash. The pharmacist is in hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Police say a weapon may have been used, but the investigation is on-going.

Charges are pending.
