Flu Death Toll Rises

Another person has died as a result of the flu, bringing the total number of flu related deaths in London to five.

The Middlesex-London Health Unit says flu cases increased last week compared to previous week, with 28 laboratory confirmed cases between January 18-24.

Of those 28, 11 were hospitalized and one died. There were three confirmed outbreaks of influenza A during that time period.

Since September 1 of 2014, there have been 122 confirmed cases of influenza A and one case of influenza B. Of those who have fallen ill, 45 have been hospitalized.

Flu shots are still available across the city.

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
