Unvaccinated Oxford County Students Face Suspension

As many as 1,000 students in Oxford County could be suspended if their vaccination records are not updated.

The public health group says there are a number of students who are either behind on their immunizations or need their records to be updated.

If elementary students do not have up to date immunization records by February 19 of this year they will face suspension.

Suspension is protocol under the provincial "Immunization of School Pupils Act."

Notices were sent to the parents in December, urging them to update their children's vaccinations or provide the documents needed.

There have been four cases of the measles reported in Toronto and over 100 cases of the virus in the United States have been linked to California's Disney Land.

If you are unsure of the status of your child's immunization record to need to make an appointment you can contact Oxford County Public Health at 519-539-9800.
