Flu Death Toll Rises

A sixth Londoner has died as a result of the flu this season.

Officials at the Middlesex-London Health Unit say flu activity from February 1 to 7 has increased compared to the previous week. A total of 46 lab confirmed cases were reported, 22 of those people were hospitalized and one has died.

Since September 1 of 2014 there have been 208 confirmed cases of influenza a in the region and three cases of influenza b. Overall, 81 people have been hospitalized and six have died.

There were a total of three flu outbreaks declared last week, bringing the total number of outbreaks to 28 since flu season started.

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
