Extreme Cold Warning Lifted

An extreme cold warning from Environment Canada has been lifted, but the London area is still in a deep freeze.

The overnight low on Thursday/Friday broke a 65-year-old record by dropping to -23.1 C, breaking the record of -21.1C set in 1950.

The bitter cold snap is expected to ease overnight Friday as periods of snow move in and continue through the day on Saturday. Milder temperatures of around -4 C are expected.

The extreme cold warning went along with cold weather alert extensions from both the Middlesex-London Health Unit and Elgin-St. Thomas Health Unit. Those alerts are scheduled to be lifted on Monday.
