Cold Weather Alert Extended

The Elgin-St. Thomas Health Unit is extending a Cold Weather Alert for the second time.

The alert was initially issued on February 12, but prolonged extreme cold temperatures has resulted in the extensions.

Day time temperatures today are expected to be around -16C, then rise to the single digits tomorrow. Overnight temperatures are expected to plummet, with wind chills near -30C.

The Cold Weather Alert is now in effect until Saturday, February 28.

Meanwhile, the Middlesex-London Health Unit has issued its seventh Cold Weather Alert of the season. It is in effect until Monday, March 2.

If you are heading outside health officials are asking you to dress accordingly, protecting your skin from the wind and cold.

Hypothermia and frostbite are possible in this extreme cold.

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
