TVDSB Appoints Associate Director

The Thames Valley District School Board has appointed a new associate director of of Learning Support Services to replace Karen Dalton, who is retiring.

Dalton has had a 37-year career in public education, starting as a secondary school teacher and serving 14 years as a senior administrator.

Superintendent of Student Achievement Valerie Nielsen has been appointed to the position, effective August 31. Nielsen serves on the Western University Senate and was appointed Superintendent of Student Achievement in 2007.

As superintendent, she supervises the London South Community of Schools as well as the elementary curriculum team, and the First Nations, Métis and Inuit portfolio. She has a long and varied background in school administration in Canada and the United Arab Emirates.

New military crosswalk in Sarnia to be unveiled

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
