Child Playing With Lighter Starts Apartment Fire

For the second time this week, firefighters say a child playing with fire set a home ablaze.

Investigators were called to 540 Mornington Ave. just before midnight Thursday night.

A child playing with a lighter set some books on fire, which in turn set the book case on fire, causing about $3,500 in damage.

No one was hurt in the fire.

Earlier this week, two boys playing with matches started a fire at a Banbury Rd. home.

The homeowner tried to put out the fire and realized the boys, aged 8 and 10, had ran away from home in only their pyjamas.

They were discovered several blocks away and taken to hospital as a precaution.
