Arrests Made In Port Stanley Break-Ins

Two men are facing a number of charges following two break-and-enters in Port Stanley.

The Elgin County Ontario Provincial Police say on Friday, the break and enters occurred between 4:30am and 5:15am at the Highland-Drug Mart on Colborne St. and Tapas Bar & Grill on Bridge St.

Police say an undisclosed amount of medication and cash was taken from the Highland-Drug Mart, while a variety of food items were taken from the Tapas Bar & Grill. Officers arrested Michael James Martin, 32, and Denarryl Edwin Critchfield, 53, both of Port Stanley.

The men have been charged with the following offences:

Michael James Martin

  • Three counts of possession of property obtained by crime.
  • Two counts of break and enter to commit an indictable offence.
  • Possession of a weapon for dangerous purpose.
Denarryl Edwin Critchfield
  • Three counts of possession of property obtained by crime.
  • Five counts of possession of a Schedule 1 Substance.
  • Possession of Schedule 2 Substance (cannabis resin) under 1g.
Martin is being held in custody with court date scheduled for March 15.  Critchfield has been released pending a court date on April 20.

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
