Knife Fight In St. Thomas

A 21-year-old St. Thomas man is facing a slew of weapons charges after pulling a knife on another man behind a bank.

Police say officers were called to the area behind the Royal Bank in the west end of St. Thomas around 1:30 yesterday afternoon.

The altercation started on Talbot St. over an outstanding debt. The two men met at the back of the bank on Curtis St. and the argument turned physical and one man pulled a knife. Investigators say he waved and poked it at the other man.

An off duty police officer saw the incident and tried to stop the fight. The man with the knife ran away, but was arrested a few blocks away.

He faces charges of possession of a weapon when prohibited, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, assault and unauthorized possession of a weapon.

The other man involved was not hurt.
