Blitz Nabs Dozens Of Distracted Drivers

London police are telling drivers to pay more attention.

A four-day traffic blitz last week targeted distracted driving and lack of proper seatbelt use.

Officers handed out 87 tickets and issued 12 warnings for distracted driving. They also gave out 33 tickets for seatbelt violations.

A police spokesman says it appears some people just aren't getting the message about distracted driving.

"All it takes is one to cause a collision," says Constable Ken Steeves. "The unfortunate thing is a lot of people think 'it can't happen to me' or 'I've been driving for a while' or whatever the case may be, but it is certainly an issue and the message is not getting across." says Steeves.

In 2014, police say there were almost 2,500 violations involving distracted driving in London.
