Demonstration, Vigils in Memory of Beau Baker

Friends of Beau Baker, the 20-year-old former Londoner shot and killed late last week in Kitchener by Waterloo Regional Police, plan to show their support today in London and in Kitchener.

The shooting probe is now in the hands of the Special Investigations Unit. (Details HERE.)

According to a Facebook page set up by friends, demonstrators plan to gather at Kitchener City hall Tuesday at 3pm, to rally "peacefully" against police brutality. Officers from Waterloo will be on hand to ensure everyone's safety.

On Monday night, friends will gather at 8:30pm at Kipps Lane and Adelaide St. to hold a candlelight vigil.  A simultaneous vigil will be held outside Baker's Kitchener home.

Waterloo police say they were called because Baker was distraught and holding a knife, and he was shot after an interaction with officers.
