Influenza Claims Another Victim

Influenza has claimed another life in the London area.

The Middlesex-London Health Unit's latest influenza surveillance report says there were seven new, lab-confirmed cases of Influenza A and three cases of Influenza B between March 29 and April 4.

Eight people had to be hospitalized during that week, and there was a report of a death involving a person who had previously been identified as having lab-confirmed Influenza.

Since the beginning of September, London and Middlesex County have seen 324 confirmed cases of Influenza A and 26 cases of Influenza B.

Of those, 143 people had to be hospitalized and 14 people have died.

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
