Frijia Wins NBL Award

The London Lightning didn't get a championship this year but the team's owner took home a major honour at this week's NBL Canada Awards.

Vito Frijia was named this year's NBL Canada Executive of the Year.

A member of the Brampton A's, Tyshwan Edmonson, who knocked the Lightning out of contention this year, won Newcomer of the Year.

Other winners:

Most Valuable Player - Quinnel Brown of the Windsor Express.

Rookie of the Year - Rashad Whack of the Island Storm.

Sixth Man of the Year - Omar Strong of the Mississauga Power.

Coach of the Year - Josep ‘Pep’ Claros of the Halifax Rainmen.

Defensive Player of the Year - Kevin Young, Halifax Rainmen.

Canadian of the Year - Tyrone Watson, Halifax Rainmen.

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
