New Deputy Police Chief Named

Superintendent Steve Williams will be London's next deputy chief of police.

Williams has been with the London Police Service for 23 years.

He has served as a patrol officer and work in several units, including Major Crime, Professional Standards, Human Resources and, until his promotion, the superintendent in charge of the corporate services division.

In 2010, Williams received the Award of Merit from the Ontario Homicide Investigators Association and has been recognized for his work during numerous drug and homicide investigations.

He has a Bachelor of Arts Degree from Carleton University, a Diploma in Public Administration form Western University and went to the Rotman School of Management for the Police Leadership Program.

Williams replaces former Deputy Chief John Pare, who is now chief of police.

He will take over the position as of May 14, 2015.

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
