Woman Dies Two Years After Plunging From London Balcony

The Brantford woman who plunged from a seventh floor balcony in London has died two years after the incident.

According to an online obituary, 24-year-old Desiree Gallagher died on Thursday night.

She was taken off life support after being found without vital signs at Participation House in Brantford, where she lived.

In May of 2013, police and emergency crews were called to 695 Talbot St. for a report of a woman falling from a balcony.

She was rushed to hospital in critical condition and never fully recovered. Gallagher had 14 screws put in her spine and part of her skull removed to relieve the swelling of her brain. She was blind and in a wheelchair for the rest of her life. Investigators say she was assaulted before the fall.

Justin Primmer, 29, who lived in the apartment pleaded guilty to assault causing bodily harm. He was handed a six month sentence.

Primmer had previously served five years of a ten-year sentence for manslaughter after pleading guilty to the stabbing death of a Stratford man in 2003.
