Homeowner Scares Off Armed Intruder

One man is facing charges after allegedly breaking into a London home armed with a knife.

The London Police Service says on Friday around 2am, a man broke into the house on Princess Ave. while the owner was at home. The owner yelled at the intruder who then fled the house.

Police were then called and officers arrested 32-year-old Christopher Ryan Smibert of London who was located in the area.

While in custody, Smibert allegedly threatened and assaulted a police officer. The officer suffered a minor injury.

He has now been charged with break and enter, assaulting a police officer and uttering threats.

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
