SIU Investigating Death In London

The province's police watchdog is investigating the circumstances surrounding a teen's death in London.

Few details have been released now that Ontario's Special Investigations Unit is in control of the case. The SIU says on Saturday around 10:30pm, officers with the London Police Service were called to a local address regarding the welfare of an 18-year-old male.

A friend located the teen in a nearby bog and notified officers shortly after midnight. Police then performed CPR on the man until paramedics and fire crews arrived at the scene.

The 18-year-old was taken to Victoria Hospital where he was pronounced dead early Sunday morning. An autopsy has been scheduled for Monday.

The SIU investigates incidents involving police that result in serious injury, death, or allegations of sexual assault.

Anyone with information regarding this incident is asked to contact the SIU at 1-800-787-8529.
