City-Inside Worker Talks Resume Tuesday

Talks between the City of London and CUPE Local 101 representing inside workers union ended on Friday night with an agreement to resume negotiations on Tuesday.

Friday's bargaining session was the first one held since the strike involving 750 workers began. It's now in week three.

Mayor Matt Brown tells Blackburn News, managers are doing the best they can to keep up with services.

The union has previously said it's unprepared to accept concessions the city wants but Brown says something's got to give.

"I need to be clear. To reach a deal, we'll need to see concessions from the union. We'll need to see compromise. We'll need to see give and take from the city, from both parties. Both parties need to come together and work on a deal that's fair to the employees but also fair to the community."

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
