Teachers' Unions Plan to Join Forces

Members of all four provincial teachers unions say they're prepared to launch coordinated job action if new deals aren't reached by the start of the next school year.

Representatives from the elementary (ETFO) and secondary (OSSTF) public teachers unions, along with the Catholic (OECTA) and French (AEFO) unions met in Toronto late last week.  They're all expecting to be in a strike position in September.

The President of the Ontario English Catholic union tells the Toronto Star they won't negotiate through the whole summer because staff on all sides of the bargaining table have vacations booked.

Elementary teachers across the province are currently on a work to rule campaign.
