MADD London Elects New President

The London chapter of Mothers Against Drunk Driving has elected Mary Rodrigues as its new president.

Rodrigues was chosen by a unanimous vote at the annual general meeting on Wednesday. Rodrigues lost her four-month-old son, Alex, to an impaired driving crash in 2008. She has been a speaker and advocate for MADD’s mission in both London and Woodstock and joined the London Board of Directors in 2014.

Mary Rodrigues replaces outgoing president and London Police Constable Emmett Murchland. Constable Murchland is joining the OPP.

New military crosswalk in Sarnia to be unveiled

As part of a partnership between the Sarnia Legion Branch 62 and City of Sarnia, an unveiling ceremony will be held at the corner of Christina Street and Wellington Street on Sunday, June 7, at 2 p.m.

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
