Armed Standoff Ends Peacefully

A man armed with two rifles barricaded himself in his vehicle in Tillsonburg on Saturday morning, sparking a standoff with police.

Oxford County OPP as well as the OPP Emergency Response Team and Tactical Response Unit, along with crisis negotiators, and EMS all responded to the incident on Frances St. in Tillsonburg at about 3am Saturday.  Area roads were blocked off as negotiations continued. Police say the man refused to come out of his his vehicle for around six hours. He eventually surrendered and was arrested without incident. Two long guns were seized at the scene and roads reopened at about 10:30am.

Donald Morris, 54, of Tillsonburg, is charged with pointing a firearm, weapons dangerous, failing to stop for police, uttering threats, unsafe storage of a firearm and trespassing at night.

He is in police custody.

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
