Heavy Rain Possible This Weekend

Environment Canada says we're in for some heavy rain and possibly thunderstorms this weekend.

The agency has issued a special weather statement for Sarnia-Lambton and surrounding areas including Windsor-Essex, London-Middlesex and Chatham-Kent.

A low pressure system arriving Saturday will spread rain across Southern Ontario from west to east through the day. In a lot of areas the rain will continue through Sunday afternoon and may be heavy at times.

There is also a risk of isolated thunderstorms on the weekend, especially over Southwestern Ontario.Regions from Windsor to the Golden Horseshoe will likely receive significant amounts of rain in the 30 mm to 60 mm range, and rainfall warnings may be issued. Lesser amounts, in the 20 mm to 40 mm range, are expected over Central and Eastern Ontario.

Additionally, significant easterly winds are expected to develop Saturday with gusts generally in the 50 to 70 km/h range with strongest winds along the Lower Great Lakes.
