Londoners Now Able To Charge Phones Downtown

Londoners will now be able to charge their cell phones downtown at outside device charging stations.

The Solar Street Chargers are located at the corner of Richmond St. and Central Ave., and outside the Covent Garden Market. These chargers are Canada's first public solar powered device chargers.

“When someone’s phone battery is about to die, they often go home,” says General Manager and CEO of Downtown London Janette MacDonald. “These charging stations add to our vibrant public spaces and allow visitors, shoppers or diners to have a longer, more convenient experience downtown.”

The Solar Street Chargers can charge up to six devices at a time, during the day or night, and in the sun or shade.

Downtown London says street chargers are another step London is taking towards becoming a "smart city".
