UPDATE: Pedestrian Killed Near Strathroy

A man is dead after he was hit by a vehicle on a rural road just west of Strathroy.

The Middlesex County Ontario Provincial Police says on Thursday around 1:51pm, a red Mazda car was traveling west on Napperton Dr. when it left the road for an unknown reason and struck a 45-year-old man on private property.

The vehicle then collided with a tree, crossed Napperton Dr., and came to a rest on its side on the south side of the road.

The pedestrian died at the scene. His name is being withheld pending the notification of next of kin.

The driver of the Mazda, a 34-year-old man from Strathroy-Caradoc, was taken to hospital with non-life threatening injuries. He was the only occupant of the vehicle.

Napperton Dr. was closed between School Rd. and Seed Rd. while police were at the scene. The road has since been reopened.
