City Hires More Lifeguards, Opens Wading Pools

The city says additional lifeguards have been hired and all wading pools will open soon for the summer season.

Last weekend, the city closed six wading pools due to a shortage of qualified lifeguards.

Officials say the Meredith, McMahen and University Heights pools will be open on Monday. The Murray location will open the following day and then Smith and Byron pools will open at a later date.

According to the city, London is one of many cities in Canada with a lifeguard shortage.
