Driver Charged After Teen Critically Injured

A St Thomas man is facing impaired driving charges in a single-vehicle rollover crash that left his passenger in critical condition.

OPP were called to the area of Ballpark Rd., north of Townline Rd. on Oneida Nation of the Thames First Nation around 3:40am on August 9.

Investigators say a grey Chrysler left the road and hit a hydro pole, before rolling over and coming to a rest on its wheels.

The 17-year-old girl in the passenger's seat was thrown from the car and taken to hospital, where she remains in critical condition.

The 19-year-old driver was taken to hospital with non-life threatening injuries and has since been released.

Police allege the driver had been drinking prior to the crash.

River Doxtator of St. Thomas faces one charge of driving while ability impaired causing bodily harm and refusing to provide breath samples.

He is scheduled to appear in a London court on September 9.

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
