Charges Laid After Sixth Playground Fire

London Police say a 19-year-old has been charged in connection with an early morning fire at Jack Chambers Public School.

Fire crews were called to the school on Hastings Dr. just after 5am on Wednesday, after fire was set to the playground equipment at the school.

Damage is estimated at $6,000.

A short time later, police arrested a suspect. The 19-year-old is charged with arson causing property damage.

Although police say there is no evidence connecting this fire with the playground fires at St. Jude Catholic School, Jesse Davidson Park, the green space behind Arthur Ford Public School, and Rick Hansen Public School, the teen's name will not be released out of concern for his safety.

He will appear in court October 1.

Police are asking anyone with information to contact London Police at 519-661-5670 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).
