Majors Lose Game 7

The London Majors fell into an early hole in game seven of their Intercounty Baseball League semi-final series with Kitchener, and couldn't climb out.

The Panthers jumped out to a 9-2 lead, and held on to win the deciding game 11-6 over the Majors.

Kitchener opened the scoring in the first with third baseman David Whiteside’s run scoring double and catcher Mike Gordner’s two-run single for a 3-0 lead. The Panthers made it 6-2 in the second on Sean Reilly’s three-run homer off losing pitcher Owen Boon.

The Panthers added three runs in the fourth for a 9-2 lead. But the Majors started clawing back with four runs in the fifth to make it 9-6.

But that would be as close as they got.

First baseman Cleveland Brownlee led London with three hits. Catcher Larry Gonzalez had a pair of hits, including a two-run homer in the second inning.

The Panthers will face the Barrie Baycats in the IBL final.
