Former Teacher Facing Child Porn Charges Has Case Put Over

It is expected a trial date will be set next month for the former teacher accused of hiding a camera inside an Ashley Oaks Public School changeroom.

A lawyer for Jamie Gardiner made a brief court appearance on his behalf Tuesday morning.

Gardiner, 37, faces one count of both making and possessing child pornography and another 17 charges of voyeurism.

He was initially arrested in March and charged with only two counts of voyeurism. A staff member had found a camera hidden inside a backpack in one of the school's changerooms.

After examining the recordings investigators laid the other charges.

They say the recordings date back to as early as 2011 and at least 20 victims have been identified, one being under the age of 18. The majority of them were staff members at Ashley Oaks.

The Thames Valley District School Board put Gardiner on leave at first, but he has since been fired.

He will be in court again on September 15.
