Kittens Found In Burlap Sack

A 51-year-old Norwich man is facing animal cruelty charges after a burlap sack of kittens was found in the back of his pickup truck.

Investigators say police were called to a Woodstock business around 11 Monday morning. A worker had seen a burlap bag in the back of a customer's truck and could hear the kittens howling from inside.

Two kittens were rescued by police and taken to a nearby veterinary clinic. Despite having elevated body temperatures, the animals are in fair condition.

The SPCA is now investigating and handling the incident.
