Trailer Transporting Pigs Crashes

One man is facing charges after a transport truck carrying pigs crashed into a ditch in Middlesex County.

The Ontario Provincial Police says on Thursday around 1:13pm, the truck was travelling north on Kerwood Rd. when it failed to stop for a stop sign at Egremont Dr.  The vehicle then left the roadway and entered the ditch.

The livestock trailer was transporting around 500 pigs, but none of the animals were injured in the crash.

However, a fuel tank on the cab was damaged and a small amount of diesel fuel leaked from the tank. The Ministry of the Environment has been notified.

Steven Slotegraaf, 38, of Ashfield-Colborne-Wawanosh Township has been charged with failing to stop for a stop sign.
