Inquest Called Into EMDC Inmate's Death

A date has been set for the inquest into the death of Keith Patterson.

The 30-year-old died at the London Health Sciences Centre on September 30, 2014. The previous day, he had been found hanging in a segregation cell at the Elgin Middlesex Detention Centre.

The inquest, which is mandatory under the Coroners Act, will look at the events surrounding Patterson's death.

It is expected to last five days and hear from 12 witnesses.

 

The inquest will begin at 10am on Monday, November 2. It will be held at the Middlesex County building on Ridout St.

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
