North Huron Man Charged In Historical Sexual Assaults

A North Huron man faces sexual assault charges relating to incidents that occurred almost 40 years ago.

The Huron County OPP says the charges date back to events that occurred near the town of Wingham between the summers of 1976 and 1978 when the accused was volunteering as a Scout leader with the Wingham Scout Troop.

The victims, two young teenaged boys, had met the accused through scouting activities.

Martin Cretier, 71, faces four counts of indecent assault and four counts of gross indecency.

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
