Free Tree Giveaway For National Tree Day

The City of London and Reforest London are encouraging people to celebrate National Tree Day on Wednesday by holding a free tree giveaway. All Londoners are invited to get a tree to help the Million Tree Challenge meet its goal of planting 1-million trees in ten years.

Ivan Listar, manager of Urban Forestry for the City of London, says the city is well on its way to meeting that goal, with over 250,000 trees planted so far.

The trees are in 3-5 gallon pots, and a vehicle is recommended for pickup. Assistance is available to residents needing delivery or help with planting.

Trees can be picked up in the parking lots at Argyle Mall and Westmount Shopping Centre between 11am and 1pm, at White Oaks Mall from 4pm to 6pm and at Masonville place from 5pm to 7pm.

More information can be found here at the City of London’s  website.
