Motorcycle And Pick Up Collide

A motorcyclist is fighting for his life following a crash southwest of London.

The OPP says the driver of the motorcycle was airlifted to hospital after colliding with a pickup truck on Iona Rd. at the Hwy. 401 overpass around 7:30am on Wednesday morning.

Investigators say the motorcyclist was travelling northbound on Iona Rd. and the pickup truck was headed southbound when the driver tried to make a left turn onto the Hwy. 401 on-ramp.

The motorcycle hit the passenger side of the truck.

The 31-year-old motorcyclist suffered serious life-threatening injuries and remains in a London hospital. The 82-year-old driver of the pickup truck was unharmed in the crash.

No names have been released.

Iona Rd. was closed for several hours at Third Line. It has since re-opened.

No charges have been laid.

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
