Clocks Go Back This Weekend

We'll get an extra hour of sleep this weekend.

This is the weekend that sees the end of Daylight Saving Time, as clocks go back one hour.

The London Fire Department suggests it's also a good time to replace the batteries in your smoke alarms and carbon monoxide detectors.

The fire department says statistics from the Ontario Fire Marshall show that between 2009 and 2013, in residential fires in which there were injuries or dollar loss, 18% of the homes that burned did not have smoke alarms. In 15%, there were smoke alarms which didn't work because of missing or expired batteries.

A release from the fire department says, "These numbers have not improved significantly over several years, so it appears that many people are still not heeding safety messages."
