30-Year-Old Charged In South London Bank Robbery

Charges have now been laid in a south London bank robbery over the weekend.

Matthew Langis, 30, of London is charged with several offences including armed robbery, dangerous operation of a vehicle, leaving the scene of a crash, and resisting arrest.

The charges stem from a bank robbery at the TD Canada Trust at 1420 Ernest Ave. Sunday.

London police say a man walked into the bank, brandished a weapon and demanded cash. He then fled the area in a blue Dodge Caravan with an unknown amount of money.

Police followed the suspect until his vehicle left the road, crashing into a tree. Police alleged the suspect attempted to flee the scene of the crash but was caught by officers.

No one was injured during the robbery or the chase.

Langis remains in police custody. He will appear in court on Thursday.
