High School Teachers Reach Tentative Deal With TVDSB

High school teachers have a tentative deal with the Thames Valley District School Board.

The Ontario Secondary School Teachers Federation District 11 and the board announced the agreement Tuesday.

The tentative deal was reached Saturday morning, following two days of intense bargaining.

“I am very pleased that the bargaining team reached a tentative deal with the board,” said Blair Middleton, District 11 Teachers’ Bargaining Unit President. “The new two-tiered bargaining process led to a long delay in getting to a local agreement, but the final outcome is a beneficial deal that I am proud to recommend to our members.”

A local deal couldn't be negotiated until the province reached a central agreement with the broader OSSTF.

Details of the agreement won't be released until teachers, continuing education teachers, and occasional teachers vote on it next week.

Board administrators will recommend trustees endorse the deal at their November 24 meeting.
