TVDSB Elects New Chair And Vice-Chair

The Thames Valley District School Board has a new chair.

Oxford Trustee Bill McKinnon was elected chair Tuesday night.

McKinnon was first elected to the board in 2010 and served as vice-chair in 2015. In the past he has served on a number of committees including the Policy Working Committee, First Nations Advisory Committee, Thames Valley Education Foundation, and the Negotiations Advisory Committee.

"I look forward to my new role as chair and the opportunity to continue working with my fellow trustees on the task of improving learning opportunities for students across Thames Valley," says McKinnon.

McKinnon replaces London Trustee Ruth Tisdale.

London Trustee Matthew Reid was elected vice-chair.

The board's inaugural meeting is set for Tuesday at 7pm.

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
