Missing Woman Found Dead

Police say foul play is not suspected after the body of a missing woman was found in St. Thomas.

The St. Thomas Police Service says early on Saturday, officers received a report that the 51-year-old had gone missing after leaving her residence in the Penhale Ave. and Southgate Pkwy. area.

Police say there was an immediate concern for the woman's health and well being.

Officers and firefighters searched the area and discovered the woman's body a short distance away around 5am. Police performed CPR before the woman was transported to Elgin St. Thomas General Hospital.

The woman's name will not be released.

Police and the Coroner’s Office are continuing to investigate.
