Three In Hospital Following Explosion At Tavistock Business

Three employees of Yantzi's Feed & Seed Ltd. in Tavistock are in hospital following a small explosion and fire yesterday.

Oxford County OPP and the East Zorra–Tavistock Township Fire Department responded to the scene yesterday at 4:45pm. Upon arriving, they found the working sprinkler system at the business had quickly extinguished the fire.

One adult male employee was seriously injured but his injuries are not considered life threatening. Two other male employees also received minor injuries.  All three were transported to an area hospital.  Several other employees evacuated the building without injury.

Woodstock St. N was closed for over an hour to assist the fire department.  The Ministry of Labour was contacted but did not attend the scene.  The Ontario Fire Marshal was contacted and will be investigating.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
