Youth Charged After Hockey FIght

A young male in Middlesex County is facing a very serious charge after an assault at a hockey game.

Middlesex OPP were called to an arena this month after a player came up behind another player and allegedly hit them in the head with a hockey stick. Police are not releasing information about what arena the incident happened at.

The player who was struck was wearing a helmet at the time and was not hurt.

Police say the attack was not related to the hockey game.

The teen is charged with assault with a weapon. He can't be identified because of his age.

Police are reminding athletes to always act within their league's code of conduct. Those who don't could face criminal charges if their behaviour is found to be a criminal offence.
