Arrest Made In Apartment Arson

A 25-year-old man has been arrested after an apartment unit was deliberately set on fire in London.

The London Police Service says on Wednesday around 10:43pm, officers and firefighters attended the scene of the blaze at 871 Adelaide St. N.

Police say a tenant from another unit noticed smoke and used a fire extinguisher to try and put out the fire. A man was found inside the unit spraying an aerosol can, causing the fire to ignite even further.

Niall Moore, the tenant of the unit, was arrested at the scene and has been charged with arson causing property damage, arson with disregard for human life, possession of an incendiary device and resisting a peace officer.

Damage to the apartment unit is pegged at around $1,000 and no one was injured.

Police say the investigation is ongoing and anyone with information is asked to call the London Police Service at (519)-661-5670 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).
