Man Killed In Perth Crash

A South Huron man is dead after a two-vehicle crash near the village of Kirkton.

Perth OPP say a tractor trailer heading west on Perth Line 20 collided head-on with an eastbound Kia Sedona mini-van around 11:30am Monday. Police say it appears the mini-van travelled into the westbound lane before the collision.

The driver of the Sedona, 34-year-old Barry Allen Edwards of South Huron, was pronounced dead at the scene.

The truck driver, a 58-year-old man from Waterloo, had to be extricated from the truck and taken to hospital by ambulance.

The crash caused the trucks fuel tanks to rupture and detach. A representative of the Ministry of the Environment responded to the scene to make sure the fuel was contained.

OPP are still investigating the cause of the collision, but say there was lightly blowing snow at the time.
