Man Pulls Knife, Kicks Officer In Head

St. Thomas police say an arrest Monday could have ended much differently after a man pulled a knife on officers.

Police were called to a home on Sutherland Ave. just after 7:30pm after getting reports of a man destroying his place.

When officers arrived they tried to talk to the man, who by that time was walking down the street. Police say that's when the man pulled a knife.

Officers were able to get him to drop the weapon, but say he began resisting arrest, kicking an officer in the head while the officer tried to handcuff him. Police then tasered the man.

He was arrested without further incident.

A 20-year-old St. Thomas man is charged with possession of a weapon, possession of a restricted weapon, resisting arrest, assault with intent to resist, and assaulting a peace officer.
