London Man Charged In St. Thomas Robbery

St. Thomas police have made an arrest in connection with a violent jewellery store robbery on Monday.

It was just after 2:30pm when police say a man walked into the B&L Jewellers on First Ave. at Wellington St. and punched a store employee in the face following a brief chat. Police allege the man then hopped the counter and continued assaulting the woman before zip tying her arms and legs and duct taping her mouth.

Another woman walked into the store and was assaulted and forced into a back room. Police say the second woman was able to escape and call for help.

The man took off out a rear door with an undisclosed amount of jewellery.

Both women were treated for minor injuries.

Police were able to identify a suspect using video surveillance and arrested a 40-year-old man in London on Tuesday.

Wallace Piercey of London is charged with robbery, assault, assault causing bodily harm, forcible confinement, and breach of recognizance.

He makes his first court appearance Wednesday.

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
